On The Day You Were Born
ON THE DAY YOU WERE BORN
[ by Debra Frasier ]
This is one of our most beloved books. We’ve been reading this to the kids since our daughter was itsy bitsy. In fact, she calls it her “birth book” and it makes her feel magical and special, just as it was intended to do. The pages are filled with beautiful, poetic imagery and unique illustrations. It celebrates the story of coming into being through the wonderful, mysterious preparations of nature.
While you waited in darkness,
tiny knees curled to chin,
the Earth and her creatures
with the Sun and the Moon
all moved in their places,
each ready to greet you
the very first moment
of the very first day you arrived.
The winner of several awards, including the Parent’s Choice Gold Award, it also includes a detailed reference section in the back which delves further into the workings of things alluded to in the book, such as gravity, how trees make oxygen, the migration patterns of the animals, and the water cycle.
I just discovered it’s on sale at Book Closeouts right now for $8, so go grab a copy!

We have this book too! Someone gave it to us as a gift when our first child was born. Funny, but only my middle son really likes it. He’s the one that is very into poetry and imagery. I love this book.
